Slow cooked Beef

Slow cooked Beef

Here is a great slow cooker beef recipe and it only takes 10 minutes of prep time!

The good news is that, using a slow cooker, you can take the lowest grade of meat and make it tender.

However the secret to a great slow cooker meal is picking the right piece of beef. My advice is start talking to your butcher and ask questions!

Ingredients:

* Assumes a 5 litre slow cooker is being used

  • 3 lb beef roast (a joint of brisket will do)
  • 1 beef stock cube (if you wish)
  • 1 glass of red wine (add more if you like)
  • 1 cup of mixed herbs (garlic can be added)
  • Half a pint of water
  • Seasoning to suit

Method:

You can add whatever vegetables you like. I add mixed veg and also onions. You can add them from frozen, it really doesn’t make much difference to the overall cooking time. I sometimes add a teaspoon of mustard, or a few drops of tobasco; it just depends how spicy you like your food.

Place your beef roast in the slow cooker and add the ingredients together. Then place in the slow cooker over the roast. Pour the water around the roast. Cook on low for 7-9 hours.

Enjoy!
