“But now it’s more likely to be a casserole in the kitchen than a formal affair”…
The days are dwindling when tables for six in well-reviewed restaurants were full every night. Dining at home is back. But the re-born dinner party is a rather different affair to the classic image of a dining room table laid with polished silver. Eat out in someone elses home, post credit crunch, and you are more likely to be served supper in the kitchen, dining on a casserole with good red wine bought at a third of restaurant prices.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane - say, 20 years or so before the nineties restaurant boom, dinner parties were traditionally held in the dining room. Back then, giving dinner parties was taken very seriously indeed, everyone dressed up. Phil & Vicki remember their parents working on a Saturday afternoon getting ready for the evening’s dinner party, the table had been polished, usually their father’s job!
Meanwhile, Mother was busy preparing in the kitchen, a delight to see her working away on such interesting dishes ranging from seafood starters to game casseroles and other mouthwatering dishes. Father would then choose a selection of wines from the cellar to accompany each course… Happy days!
Now, we can do all this for you… And you can relax and enjoy the company of your guests without the stress that all too often accompanies such an occasion.
